Rotenberg

A field blend of Riesling and grapes of the Pinot family (Gris, Blanc, Noir, Beurot) from the Rotenberg vineyard in Bergheim. Vines grow on red, iron-rich limestone soils on a south-facing slope. A warmer terroir with vines is generally picked early. Slow whole cluster pressing, some skin maceration, natural yeast fermentation, matured in old foudre for 12 months.

Tasting Note: Aromas of lime, pineapple, and apricot with brown spice, menthol, and white flower on the nose. Dry/off-dry with beautiful texture on the palate, a stone fruit core with a mineral backbone, vibrant acidity, great balance and tension, and a long saline finish.
