Engelgarten

Marcel-Deiss-Engelgarten-R.jpg

A field blend of Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Beurot, Muscat, and Pinot Noir from the gravelly white soils of the famous Engelgarten (Angel’s garden) vineyard, located in the commune of Bergheim. A very old vineyard managed with extreme care. The vines also struggle due to the vineyard’s marked water deficit and can only produce small yields but the fruit is known to have amazing complexity. Whole cluster pressing, fermentation with indigenous yeast, aged on fine lees for 12 months in large foudre.

Engelgarten - le jardin des anges – angel’s garden

Tasting Note: Aromas of apple, peach, pear, and yellow plum with hints of nutmeg, apricot blossom, stone mineral, and flint on the nose. Initially subtle and understated but has great depth, complexity and layers, a ripe yellow fruit core on the palate, fresh acidity, rounded texture, long length on a salty finish.
