Château Megyer / Pajzos

Sárospatak

Located in Tokaji-Hegyalja in northeast Hungary, the Château Megyer estate has a rich history of being classified as “First Growth” in 1772 by the Royal Decree. The château is currently managed by Jean Louis Laborde and his son Ronan since 1991 (who also run Château Clinet in Pomeral). At the same time, Château Pajzos was purchased under the same company, and now both share cellar facilities. Jean Louis wasted no time replanting 64ha of vines in the southwest-facing slopes with igneous and sedimentary soils to ensure optimal grape production. Tokaji was once one the most important wines of the world. Château Megyer continues to produce these traditional sweet wines that are much loved historically by royal customers, while also producing vibrant, delicious, dry wines with the same grapes native to the area. (some products may appear under the Megyer or Pajos labels).
