Burlenberg Haute Densité Colline Brullée
Primarily Pinot Noir with some co-planted Pinot Gris, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Beurot, etc. growing on volcanic limestone soils which are similar to those of Clos de Bèze in the Côtes du Nuits. It’s these soils which give this wine its marked colour, tannins, structure, and ability to age. Vines were planted in 1977 and 1997 and with this parcel, they were planted at 27,500 vines/ha (the average is 4,000 vines/ha). Aged in oak with some use of new barrels.
Tasting Note: Aromas of raspberry, cherry, and plum with hints of forest floor, smoke, spice, and game on the nose. Rich and very layered on the palate with a spiced berry fruit and a deep earthy mid-palate, good acidity, fine tannin, and good length on a spiced red fruit finish.
