Riesling Kallstadter Saumagen Spätlese Trocken

Riesling from the ‘grand cru’ site of Saumagen with its deep soils of loess, marl, and a high proportion of limestone. The estate owns 4ha on a south-east facing parcel with vines averaging 25 years. Natural fermentation in large old oak barrels 600 – 1200L in size with minimum 8 months on lees. The name, Saumagen, is in reference to the shape of the vineyard and is also a specialty sausage dish in the area.

Tasting Note: Aromas of lime, apple, and pear with hints of flower, fresh herb, and stone mineral on the nose. Lush with a rounded texture on the palate, great concentration of fruit, fresh acidity, finessed, very good length on a very mineral finish. Dry.
