Riesling Vendanges Tardives

Marcel-Deiss-Riesling-Vendange-Tardive-R.jpg

A late harvest selection of Riesling growing on shallow limestone soils from the Jurassic era. Vinified and aged in a small foudre. Very limited in production as by law for a “vendange tardive”, the winemaker must contact the INAO to get approval first and an advisory panel will confirm the sugar level & crop amount, then after 6 months after bottling the wine is tasted by authorities. The wine itself is allowed to be sold after 18 months of aging & no botrytised grapes are allowed.

Tasting Note: Aromas of candied citrus, lime, peach, apricot, pineapple, golden raisin, honey, petrol, white flower, and spice on the nose. Beautiful richness with a satin texture with a ripe tropical fruit core and honey, medium-bodied, crisp acidity, great length on the finish. Semi-sweet.
